Carnegie Endowment Junior Fellows Program (nomination required)

The program seeks exceptional students who desire careers in international affairs.  The ten students who are selected would work in Washington, D.C.  for one year where they would provide research assistance to Associates working on the Endowment’s research projects.  The college may nominate two students. Please check with OPS regarding campus deadline, which will be in advance of the national deadline.

  • Students with F-1 Visas are eligible to apply.

  • Applicant must be a senior.

 

Coro Fellows Program in Public Affairs

The Coro Fellows in Public Affairs Programs consist of a nine-month, full-time, post-graduate experiential leadership training program. Each year, 64 individuals from diverse backgrounds and committed to excellence in public affairs are chosen to serve as Fellows at one of the Coro Centers. Fellows become engaged full-time in field assignments in a business, labor union, government agency, non-profit, or on an election campaign. Fellows participate in individual and group projects and consultancies seeking to translate their ideals for improving their communities into action.

The Foundation provides an exceptional experience for students interested in human rights with a specific focus on the protection of minorities. Fellows are selected on the basis of leadership potential, academic achievement, interest in minority issues in Europe and America.

Kroc Fellowship for NPR

 The NPR Kroc Fellowship identifies and develops a new generation of extraordinary public radio journalists.

  • The Fellows will spend most of their time at NPR headquarters in Washington, D.C., but each Fellow will also have an assignment at an NPR Member Station.

New York City Urban Fellows Program

For those seriously considering a career in public service: applicants must be recent college graduates prepared to participate in the full-time program for one academic year. Fellows receive a stipend of $30,000 to work in a mayoral office or agency.

NIST SURF

There are two locations:  Maryland (http://www.nist.gov/surfgaithersburg/) and Colorado (http://www.nist.gov/surfboulder/).

SURF is a partnership, supported by NIST, NSF, and the participating colleges/universities. We anticipate providing meaningful research opportunities for approximately 130 students in the Gaithersburg site-wide program and 22 in Boulder.  Applications are made in conjunction with the college.

NSF REU

NSF funds a large number of research opportunities for undergraduate students through its REU Sites program. An REU Site consists of a group of ten or so undergraduates who work in the research programs of the host institution. Each student is associated with a specific research project, and works closely with the faculty and other researchers. Students are granted stipends and, in many cases, assistance with housing and travel. An REU Site may be at either a US or foreign location.

  • Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

  • Applicant may be a fresher, sophomore, or junior.

 

UROP International @ RWTH Aachen, Germany

The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program at RWTH Aachen University fosters research partnerships between qualified undergraduates from top US and Canadian universities and research faculty at our university.  The program is specifically designed for students who wish to attain hands-on experience in fundamental research at one of the top universities of science and technology worldwide.

UROP International offers undergraduate students the unique chance to conduct their own research project, thus actively experiencing what research is like at an early stage of their academic career. While pursuing their projects, students are mentored and supervised by the excellent research staff of the host institute at RWTH Aachen University.  No prior ability in the German language is required.
